The International Student & Scholar Services Office provides support to international students and scholars engaged in academic activities at the University of North Texas System and serves as the primary campus resource on immigration matters pertaining to all non-immigrant visa types.

The key role for International Student & Scholar Services is to ensure compliance with federal regulations and the agencies that govern international education. Our office provides quality advising, education, and services in support of these regulations.

The office is committed to helping university students, scholars, faculty and staff with their immigration questions.

Job Description
The International Student and Scholar Services Office at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Senior Immigration Advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will work effectively and cooperatively with the other Advisors to ensure university compliance with all aspects of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), as required by Federal Law.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Providing accurate and compassionate advising for F-1 international students.

* Completing student immigration requests in Sunapsis and SEVIS

* Issuing I-20s and letters as well as helping to complete applications to USCIS such as OPT, Change of Status, reinstatement, etc.

* Contribute to on-going process improvement initiatives within the ISSS Office.

* Serves as staff during programming events put on by UNT International as necessary.

The successful candidate must be able to be certified with the Federal Government as a Designated School Official for the F-1 visa program.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in related field and two years of experience and thorough understanding of assigned area (i.e. F-1, J-1, or employment based visa types) or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

* Good understanding of the immigration regulation(s) associated with assigned area.
* Good understanding of the immigration processes for institutions of higher education.
* Must meet federal requirements to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO)
and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Working knowledge of business practices and procedures.
* Ability to organize and be detail oriented.
* Ability to multi-task and possess good time management skills and work under
stress.
* Ability to work in an open office area with much activity.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Master's degree

* Degree in related international or educational field

* 2 or more years of experience as a P/DSO

* Experience with Sunapsis, Peoplesoft, and SEVIS

* 2 or more years of experience in International Higher Education

* Proficiency in a language other than English
