Job Description

The Department of Educator and Leadership Preparation is seeking a non-tenure track adjunct faculty in reading. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Reading, which require a candidate to have a Ph.D. or an Ed.D. Candidates must have a strong background in scientifically-based reading instruction as well as experience with curriculum and teaching in elementary and/or secondary public U.S. schools. The adjunct faculty will prepare and teach the assigned class following a syllabus guideline. The faculty will maintain appropriate records, assign earned grades, report needed data to the department, and complete all necessary development assessment information. Teaching assignments may include day, night, or weekend classes. Flexible to suit course schedule.

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) with 18 graduate hours in Reading or Literacy
  • Candidates must be knowledgeable of the theoretical and pedagogical understandings regarding literacy instruction
  • Candidates must have background knowledge of working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
  • Candidates must have successful experience in college teaching


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching Experience in Pk-12 Reading/Language Arts settings strongly preferred
  • Experience supervising clinical or practicum experience in Reading education settings
  • Working with pre-service teachers
  • Experience in training or providing professional development
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
  • Experience or interest in student recruitment, cohort building


Job Responsibilities
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses focused on Reading, including hybrid formats
  • Working with lead faculty and advising students
