Job Description Summary:

The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences is home to some of the University's leading educators and researchers. As a modern biomedical research department, faculty members direct NIH-funded projects, with a focus on molecular, cellular, developmental, and cancer biology.

We have a Financial Analyst, Grants position available in Anatomy. This position will report to the Department Fiscal Operations Manager.

Duties include:
-Serves as liaison among principal investigators (PI's), university administrative units, sponsors, and departments/deans.

-Prepare quarterly financial reports, effort reports, and other periodic reports as requested.

-Assist in the preparation of budget and annual salary projections. Generates reports to evaluate activity and available funds. Manages fiscal reports, accounts receivables and assists the faculty in determining funds available.

-Initiate labor re-distributions and EPAFs to ensure that research staff have been correctly charged to internal and external funding sources;

-Facilitate reimbursements, purchase orders, service agreements, invoice payments, p-card activities.

-Maintain familiarity with University policies and procedures of foundations and federal grant and contract regulations; establishes and maintains and updates appropriate databases;

-Ensure award compliance with University policies and procedures and sponsor regulations;

-Works directly with Faculty PIs and OVPR and GCAS regarding annual renewals of awards (progress reports, e-snap, and no cost extensions) and insures all reports and certificates are processed for grant close-outs.

-Assist in collection and preparation of JIT documents required by sponsor and award set-up.

-Other duties related to pre-award activities may be assigned as needed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
