Minimum Education/Experience: Applicants must hold an earned doctorate degree in environmental health, occupational health or a closely related field and must be conferred and received from an appropriately accredited institution. Candidates with Ph.D. conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the rank of Assistant Professor upon initial appointment. Candidates who have completed all but their dissertation (ABD) will be initially appointed with the probationary term rank of Assistant Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to their first reappointment.

Job Duties: East Carolina University seeks candidates for a nine-month, tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Environmental Health within the Department of Health Education and Promotion. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct independent research and seek external research funding. ECU has recently identified priority research areas, two of which are Big Data Analytics (BDA) and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. Successful candidate will be expected to contribute to one or both of these areas as applied to environmental and occupational health to expand the department's services in BDA and GIS technology for analyzing environmental and occupational exposures. The candidate will teach courses within the BS in Environmental Health (BSEH), MS in Environmental Health (MSEH), and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in the area of environmental and occupational health. This position is expected to provide professional service to the university, profession, and community; and perform other duties as assigned. We seek individuals with an ability to engage in research and scholarly activities as evidenced by publication in refereed journals and a focused research plan with potential for external funding. We also seek applicants with teaching experience or demonstrated potential for success in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, with proficiency in one or more of the aforementioned areas of GIS and/or BDA. Preference will be given to candidates who have: a) an established record of research and scholarly activity, b) previous environmental and/or occupational health experience, c) previous teaching experience, d) professional association involvement, and e) a record of community engagement. Research and/or teaching experience in BDA and GIS technology is highly preferred.
