Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Biomedical Informatics

Job description



The Department of Biomedical Informatics is seeking a faculty member to provide scientific administrative oversight of the Kentucky Cancer Registry, the state-mandated population-based cancer surveillance program, and the Cancer Research Informatics Shared Resource Facility through the Markey Cancer Center. (MCC) The successful candidate will also provide leadership and expertise in biomedical informatics research and development programs in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky. This individual will work with faculty members and federal agencies to enhance the ability of the University of Kentucky and the Commonwealth to respond to the national goals in these important areas.

In addition, this person will coordinate the staff, research, and administrative structure required to support the Division, and cancer surveillance and research missions of the MCC, as well as serve as a focal point for information and communication for Division and MCC members and external funding agencies

Required Education

Dr.P.H., Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree.



Required Related Experience

Evidence of knowledge and experience with techniques to collect, analyze and interpret data as part of cancer surveillance, research studies, analytics, and in support of cancer prevention and control activities.

Evidence of knowledge and experience with writing research articles and extramural grants, and disseminating data for public health and research use.

Evidence of appropriate research training in the area of epidemiology and biomedical informatics.
