The Department of American Studies, the Center for Women's & Gender, and the Center for Asian American Studies at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2019.
We welcome applicants from a variety of humanities disciplines, particularly those with doctorates in American Studies, Ethnic/Racial Studies and Women/Gender/Feminist Studies. The applicant's research should sit at the intersection of race, gender and/or sexuality. Additionally, those who focus on one or more of the following themes and areas are especially encouraged to apply:

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2019, be able to demonstrate a successful publishing and research trajectory, and have a solid record as an effective classroom teacher or a teaching philosophy helping to ensure success in the classroom. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience.
The successful candidate is expected to teach required undergraduate and graduate courses in Women's and Gender Studies, as well as contribute to the degree programs in the Department of American Studies and the Center for Asian American Studies. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop a strong research program; publish actively; direct dissertations, MA and honors theses; advise students working across Women's and Gender Studies, American Studies and Asian American Studies; and exhibit a commitment to service to the department and centers, college, and university.
