The School of Social Work in the College of Public Service and Leadership Studies

At Kentucky State University invites submission of applications for one faculty position.

Assistant Professor of Social Work (Tenure Track): Qualifications:  The successful candidate will possess an M.S.W. (or M.S.S.W.).  Evidence of significant and recent progress towards the D.S.W. or Ph.D. in Social Work, Social Welfare or a related field is preferred.  Prior full-time experience teaching at the University level or serving at least three years as a field instructor for a CSWE accredited program is required. A strong commitment to diversity is essential.  Candidates should also possess a working knowledge of EPAS and accreditation. 

Duties:  The successful  candidate will teach Social Work (BSW) courses, advise students,  identify and develop sites for student placements; provide training for field supervisors; conduct senior seminars and coordinate senior projects; assess student progress and placement outcomes; evaluate the effectiveness of the field instruction component; and participate in University service and scholarly activities.   The salary is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications.

Duties: The successful candidate will possess the knowledge to teach Gerontology, SOW basic core classes including Research, and Statistical courses at the BSW level. Other duties will include advising students, participating in service at university, community, and professional levels, and demonstrating scholarly activity.  The salary is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications.

Kentucky State University is a historically black university founded in 1886 as a small, land-grant, public, state-assisted, residential, coeducational, liberal studies-oriented University. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.  The University is located in Kentucky’s capital city of Frankfort (population 27,500) just 26 miles west of Lexington, 52 miles east of Louisville, and 96 miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Please consult for more information about the University.
