Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Infectious Disease as part of the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus has an opening for a full-time Professional Research Assistant. The employee will work collaboratively with the principal investigator (Dr. Sarah Parker) and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) at Children's Hospital Colorado. The ASP conducts a variety of grant-funded antimicrobial research and process-improvement projects throughout the year in addition to stewardship activities. The ASP requires an additional team member to work at least 30-35 hrs/wk on these projects. This will include data analysis, synthesis, and summarization for poster and article publication as well as drafting grant applications.

Example of Work

  • Clean and filter large datasets via Microsoft Excel;
  • Use Redcap software for data entry and analysis;
  • Create charts, data plots, and visual representations of data;
  • Perform chart review through EPIC software;
  • Synthesize and summarize findings in posters, power points, and journal-length articles;
  • Draft and edit manuscript submissions according to journal specifications;
  • Submit article manuscripts for publication through online publication platforms;
  • Participate in weekly ASP meetings;
  • Draft and revise grants (or similar funding mechanisms) for future funding opportunities.


PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)
  • Professional research experience in academic setting


Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check


Required Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Experience with electronic medical record databases and review (preferably Epic)
  • Experience with RedCap data collection and analysis tool
  • Ability to compile large datasets, perform analysis, and present data
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of team
  • Strong English language skills, including advanced grammar, writing (including medical) and editing skills. Writing sample will be requested.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a writing-intensive discipline (i.e. Humanities/Social Sciences);
  • 2 years professional research experience in academic setting;
  • Experience with antimicrobial stewardship;
  • Familiarity with the Children's Hospital Colorado ASP model, "Handshake Stewardship";
  • Current on HIPAA and research certifications.
