The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Virginia is seeking a Laboratory Specialist to work under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Lazzara. The successful candidate will assist with projects in the Lazzara lab studying cell signaling in mammalian cell systems. Duties will include experimental design and troubleshooting, execution of experiments, and data recording and analysis. Duties will also include assistance with basic management and maintenance of the laboratory.
A bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is required. Candidates should have experience with mammalian cell culture and basic cellular-molecular biology experimental techniques. Relevant skills include engineering and validation of cell lines, manipulation of DNA constructs, fluorescence microscopy, immunoblotting, and flow cytometry.
