The Departments of Medicine at St. Michael's Hospital's and University of Toronto are seeking a qualified full-time academic neurologist with clinical expertise in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and research expertise in the collection and analysis of blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) applied to the study of cell markers in neurological disorders. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Scientist and a proven academic record of clinical research within this area. The successful candidate must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The expected start date of the position is April 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.

The successful candidate will initiate and lead research in CSF and blood biomarkers for multiple sclerosis, be able to obtain new funding to support this research activity, and train and supervise fellows in this field. The successful candidate will also have fellowship training in MS as this position will support the large patient demands in the MS program, as well as the general neurology program at St. Michael's Hospital. In addition, the successful candidate will participate fully in the relevant educational activity in MS including supervision of fellowship trainees at St. Michael's Hospital and the University of Toronto, and collaborate in clinical research programs.

The successful candidate will, or be eligible to, hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Preferably, the successful candidate will also have or be working towards a graduate degree relevant to clinical research. Preference will be given to individuals with an interest and demonstrated excellence in carrying out research, as demonstrated by publications in leading journals, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades.

The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Neurology at St. Michael's Hospital. The Division currently consists of 13 full time neurologists and has a robust MS research program as well as expertise in stroke and movement disorders.
