Library Operations Technician

Full/Part Time: Full-Time
This position provides support and training for staff focusing on physical technologies located and circulated through University Libraries.
Provides circulation support for patrons and staff while staffing the main service point in Strozier Libraries. Responsible for working directly with patrons to troubleshoot any issues with physical technology provided by FSU Libraries.
Coordinates with Services Desk Coordinators to create and update circulation policies applied to technology materials loaned at service points. Main point of contact with FLVC regarding LMS circulation issues. Responsible for the management of the "spaces" room booking system.
Coordinates with Technology Department Head on the coordination and acquisition of new physical technologies available for circulation. Acts as lead for the ordering or replacement of any circulated technology items circulated by University Libraries. Responsible for the creation and updates of catalog records associated with the physical technology collection. Acts as primary contact with cataloging to resolve any catalog related issues.
Responsible for using emerging technologies to develop and implement training materials and modules for physical technology materials supported by FSU Libraries. Acts as lead for creating training sessions for circulation staff and other library staff concerning the operation and troubleshooting of all circulating technology materials.
Assists patrons with circulation related fines related to lost/damaged materials or late returns. Works with Director of User Services and Fines Management department to interpret circulation policies and procedures to resolve disputes.
Participates in other Library activities in order to support the Library. Performs other duties as assigned. Some evenings/weekends outside of normal schedule required.
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to five years.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Experience conveying technical information to technical and non-technical users.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to utilize technical skills.
Experience with computer applications and advanced computer functions.
Experience utilizing audio and/or video recording, mastering and editing techniques.
Knowledge of the policies and practices of library services.
Knowledge of web design and development.
Proficient skills in multimedia and instructional course software.
Experience troubleshooting issues related to physical technologies.
Anticipated Salary Range
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
