Description of primary duties and responsibilities::Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
Fayetteville State University’s Office of College Access Programs is designed to provide low-income/potential first-generation college students (enrolled in grades 6-12) with academic support services that will enhance their academic skills, thereby ensuring that these students will complete high school and enroll in and complete programs of postsecondary education.
The mission of GEAR UP is to prepare middle and high school students for college through academic preparation programs and scholarships for students, professional development activities for educators, and college access information for students and parents. More than 1,700 students are served by the GEAR UP Program in Cumberland County at eight target schools.
Description of Work Continued::GEAR UP’s Temporary Employment Pool provides support to the college access program. Positions vary according to needs of the hiring manager throughout the year.

– Program Assistant
– Summer Resident Assistant
– Summer Hall Director
- Administrative Support
Graduation from high school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
