Assistant Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement, On-Campus Engagement
Responsible for executing, and oversight of key on-campus programming for alumni and students and the creation and success of the online alumni store. The Assistant Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement will also be responsible for executing all alumni athletic programming, co-managing alumni weekend, and planning and executing compelling on-campus events that engage the student body and introduce them to the alumni association. Develop promotional products and manage marketing, sales, and distribution of online alumni store. Perform a broad range of event, volunteer management, and engagement support within the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as co-manager of Alumni Weekend, and Reunion Weekend as needed. Duties include programming, planning, and implementation. This will include coordination with and oversite of volunteer committees, vendors, students, and other staff at the College.
- Working with CMS Athletic Director and coaches, execute alumni athletic games and Hall of Fame in support of CMC and CMS goals and objectives.
- The Assistant Director will engage student leadership to develop joint programs for students and alumni including class-oriented events and alumni-student programs. Plan, publicize, and implement student engagement programing focused on connecting alumni with current students and increasing student awareness of the CMC Alumni Association and membership in the alumni community. Collaborate with Annual Giving on Senior Class Gift.
- Serve as Alumni Store lead, responsible for the creation and success of the alumni store including sourcing of CMC branded products, negotiating contracts, marketing and maintaining Alumni Store website, monitoring and analyzing sales, and distribution.
- Demonstrate ability to map out a comprehensive marketing strategy for both alumni weekend and the alumni online store. Drive strategies that are proven by testing and metrics.
- Work with and manage volunteers including committees of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, chapter leaders, class liaisons, reunion class chairs, event hosts, and students. Duties include organizing and attending meetings, regular correspondence, and implementing programs. Primary committees will be Alumni Association On-Campus Engagement committee and Alumni Weekend committees.
- Assist in the planning and execution of all major alumni and parent events as assigned.
- Demonstrate professionalism and poise in responding to the public and various internal constituencies, including trustees, donors, faculty members, students, and staff.
- Work in a collaborative, flexible, and team focused manner.
- Cross-train on other administrative functions within the department in order to knowledgeably field questions and perform tasks in colleagues’ absence or in support of colleagues as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
A high level of proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft Office software and Adobe Creative Suite, plus ability to learn and adapt to new software.
Requires superior organizational skills, an ability to work independently with minimal direction. Must be detail-oriented.
Requires excellent goal-oriented management skills. Must have ability to work collaboratively and professionally with student employees and volunteers.
Flexibility and ability to juggle competing priorities and support numerous initiatives.
Requires strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interface professionally with alumni, parents, administration, faculty, and students. Must have ability to work effectively with volunteers, with the donor community, with the academic community, and with colleagues as part of a team.
Experience with database functions and queries, particularly with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge.
Proficiency in the use of e-mail software and the ability to manipulate attachments.
Requires exceptional professional writing, editing, and analytical skills. Must possess strong verbal skills.
Knowledge of event planning and basic marketing strategies.
Knowledge of selective, private higher education external relations activities is preferred
Collaborative spirit and service-oriented attitude.
This position may require the ability to lift materials and supplies for events, such as floral arrangements, chairs, podium, etc., up to 50 pounds.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred or experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
A minimum of three years of professional level experience with increasing responsibility is required.
Experience at an academic institution or in higher education is preferred.
Volunteer management and event planning experience is preferred.
LICENSES: A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.
GROOMING AND APPEARANCE: The Claremont Colleges seek to maintain a neat and professional image at all times. Professional attire is expected.
HOURS: The regular hours for this position are 8 am to 5 pm. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department, with some flexibility for evening or weekend hours required for events. This position may require some local travel.

This is a full-time, 12 month, exempt level, benefits-eligible position.
