Post-Doctoral Fellow

Overall Description or Nature of Work

A postdoctoral research position in the field of cardiovascular engineering and imaging is available with the Department of Bioengineering, in collaboration with Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The candidate will develop research projects related to developing new in silico, in vitro, and in vivo models of bleeding and thrombosis. This position is renewable annually for up to 2 years. The salary structure is both attractive and nationally competitive. Other benefits include health/dental insurance, vacation/sick leave and access to all University facilities.

Specific Position Duties

Responsibilities will include using mathematical models of blood clot formation, development and testing microfluidic and murine models of hemostasis and thrombosis, conducting experiments with patient samples, and writing manuscripts. The postdoc on this project will work with a team includes hematologists, gynecologists, biologists, and engineers focused on basic, translational, and clinical aspects of coagulation and platelet disorders. The ability to communicate across disciplines is essential. The lab interacts with other research groups in hemostasis and thrombosis across the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in molecular or cell biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • The successful candidate must have a strong publication record in high-impact journals and demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience working with platelet physiology, coagulation biochemistry, microfluidics, hemodynamics
  • Experience with tissue culture.
  • Candidate must meet eligibility requirements for the NIH T32 postdoctoral fellowship award.
