The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) College of Engineering and Applied Science is seeking applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in the Department of Computer Science for the Data Analytics and Systems Engineering (DASE) program. All areas within computer science related to data analytics will be considered. The College of Engineering and Applied Science at UCCS is nationally ranked and offers degrees at the Bachelors, Masters, and PhD levels.

This position is expected to perform research in one or more areas related to data analytics, within the broad field of computer science; teach at the undergraduate, masters, and PhD levels; and perform services at the department, college, and professional levels. The successful candidate is expected to teach courses at all levels as assigned by the chair of the Computer Science Department. The course load for a beginning assistant professor is three classes per year for the first two years. Thereafter, the default teaching load is five, although it can be reduced with external funding.

In particular, the successful candidate is expected to possess the ability to teach classes in data analytics, in addition to one or more core computer science class(es) as required by the department; provide evidence of strong publication record and potential; and develop a strong externally funded research program. Examples of courses in data analytics include data mining, data visualization, machine learning, databases, and optimization. Examples of core computer science classes include introductory programming, algorithms, automata, architecture, operating systems and networking.

The 9-month salary range for this position is $86,000-$91,000.

The candidate must hold, by August 15, 2019, a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field.
