The School of Nursing at the University of Virginia seeks highly qualified applicants for a Grant and Contract Assistant to assist the school in achieving national prominence in its faculty and graduate student research program. This position supports faculty and students applying for external funding to support their research. This position is also responsible for post-award activities and monitors expenditure types to ensure compliance with sponsor and university specifications and restrictions. While Grants and Contracts Assistant is primarily post-award, at times this position also assists faculty and students in preparing grant proposals by interpreting sponsoring agency guidelines to ensure compliance with all sponsor, state and university requirements.
An Associate's Degree is required, a Bachelor's Degree is preferred. At least 2 years of work experience in grants and contracts and/or in a budget or finance centered position is required. Applicants must demonstrate thoughtful and appropriate oral and written communication in daily interactions. Knowledge of the principles of budgeting and financial reconciliation is required. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and collaboratively to support team members is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel is required. Preference will be given to applicants with a Research Administrator Certification. Knowledge of university and sponsored programs policies and procedures is preferred. Knowledge of contract administration is highly desirable. Experience with Oracle modules preferred as is experience with FastLane, grants.gov, eRA Commons and research administration in higher education.
