Advertised Job Summary: The qualified psychiatrist will specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental health concerns and/or illnesses. The psychiatrist will treat a wide variety of conditions and see patients with conditions requiring medication on a short-term basis, such as anxiety and panic disorder, and with long-term needs such as bipolar disorder or eating disorders. Patients with more disabling issues may be referred out based on best practices and USC's policies and procedures. Works cooperatively with medical providers, psychologists, counselors, social workers and support staff assisting with provision of direct psychiatric care in a team environment. Participates in committee activities and functions, operating programs, and other projects. The candidate will participate in other medical staff duties and work cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary setting, which includes medical, counseling, nursing, ancillary, and health and wellness units and programs. Individual will coordinate client/patient care, consultations, and referrals. Individual must gain and maintain credentials and privileges as a condition of employment and is considered essential personnel.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of internship and psychiatric residency. Minimum 2 years of experience. Must be board certified or eligible in psychiatry. Unrestricted license (or eligible) to practice medicine in South Carolina. Unrestricted DEA. CPR certification.
