Position Description: The University of Northern Iowa's College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Performance. The primary responsibilities of this position include managing group piano curriculum as taught by other faculty and graduate assistants and teaching in the sequence as needed; teaching piano pedagogy courses to undergraduate and graduate students; and coordinating piano proficiency requirements for all music majors in the School of Music. Additional responsibilities include developing strategies and implementing recruiting efforts to attract outstanding pianists, including graduate students interested in piano pedagogy, both nationally and internationally; providing individual applied instruction to undergraduate students in piano beyond proficiency; collaborating in performance with students or fellow faculty-artists; and additional duties dependent upon School of Music needs and applicant's area(s) of expertise. The successful candidate will maintain an active portfolio of scholarly research/creative activities and service, including performances and/or presentations at nationally and internationally recognized conferences and conventions.

Education Requirements: Earned doctoral degree in Piano Pedagogy by August 26, 2019.
Required Qualification: The required qualifications include recognition for excellence as a pedagogue and record of professional activity in the field of piano pedagogy; demonstrated skills in the areas of piano performance; and a minimum of three years of experience at the collegiate level as a group piano or studio teacher, pianist/collaborator, or keyboard graduate assistant.
Desirable Qualifications: Experience teaching graduate coursework in piano pedagogy.
