Temporary Study Recruiter

The University of Colorado Denver l Anschutz Medical Campus seeks individuals with demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive learning and working environment. We value the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty and staff of diverse backgrounds.

This position is a part-time, temporary position funded by the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN). The Study Recruiter will be responsible for recruiting research participants for a study examining an injectable medication for pre- exposure prophylaxis in HIV uninfected cisgender men and transgender women who have sex with men. Recruitment includes finding potential participants in African American communities, presenting the study, administering a pre-screening questionnaire, collecting contact information, and scheduling for screening appointments. The position will work various hours (including evenings and weekends) at venues such as social media, health clinics, community events, night clubs, community centers, and various other venues.

This is a part-time, temporary position and is expected to last 6-9 months. It is expected to be 20 hours per week and hours will vary.

Examples of Work Performed

Complete all required trainings

Transport study materials and data between Children's Hospital Colorado and various community venues in Denver area
Present study to business owners and other key stakeholders to create buy-in and enhance recruitment efforts.
Approach potential study participants about participating in research
Administer pre-screening questionnaire to determine eligibility
Maintain confidentiality of study participants and data and adhere to all procedures related to the protection of subject's rights
Complete study documentation as required
Develop and distribute study marketing materials
Create/maintain social media presence and online advertisements
Complete other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


Flexibility in schedule; willing to work evenings and weekends
Willing to travel within Denver Metro area
Strong presentation skills
Proficient at computer applications including Microsoft Office, internet, email
Excellent communication skills
Ability to interact in a compassionate and nonjudgmental manner with a diverse study subject population
Comfortable approaching youth at random for a research study
Ability to work independently
Previous research experience preferred



Minimum Requirements


High School Degree or equivalent experience
Have (or have access to) reliable transportation
Familiar with the targeted community at high risk for HIV and people of color.
