Advertised Salary:

Minimum $37,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in student affairs, higher education administration, counseling, biological science or business-related field. Master's or other advanced degree preferred.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Two years of experience in college/university student services or administrative employment preferred as are the following qualities:
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a student-focused approach
* Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to problem-solve, multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
* A collegial style, with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students across campus, as well as prospective students and their families.
* Commitment to student diversity and inclusivity.
* Professional written and oral communication skills; ability to organize and communicate complex information effectively.
* Familiarity with a computer environment, electronic and internet-based communications, budgeting, spreadsheets, databases, and work processing software.
* Experience building cross-campus or comparable relationships desirable.
* Knowledge of UW Madison advising tools and processes a plus.

Position Summary:

The Laboratory of Genetics seeks an enthusiastic applicant with a commitment to student support and services. The Laboratory of Genetics has a century-long, prestigious history and a strong commitment to education. We are part of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences as well as the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Department has more than 350 undergraduate and 60 graduate-program students. The Genetics Graduate program spans more than 70 faculty trainers, whose positions are funded by various federal and non-federal sponsors, housed in world-class research labs in multiple departments working in plant, medical, population, evolutionary, and basic genetics.
