Posting Summary:
The Students Records Office (SRO) at the University of Virginia School of Law seeks a Director of Academic Services and Associate Registrar.

SRO is a 4-person team headed by an Assistant Dean charged with meeting the academic services needs of approximately 950 students across three degree programs, hundreds of instructors, and thousands of alumni. This includes administering exams and grading processes among faculty and students; managing the course catalog and yearly class offerings; crafting, counseling and enforcing academic policies; collaborating with administrative colleagues in maintaining accurate student enrollment accounts; and monitoring degree progress. It also includes advising and aiding students and alumni about state licensure requirements; maintaining the Graduate Record; analyzing curriculum trends; coordinating, administering, and advising on dual/external degree and international exchange programs; collecting and assembling data for accreditation and other internal and external reporting; and monitoring and advising law school leadership on the regulatory landscape governing legal education.

The Director of Academic Services and Associate Registrar is expected to develop an understanding for the Law School's academic methods, goals, and computing systems. The Director will be expected to marshal multiple projects collaboratively with fellow administrators, and shoulder a share of the processing work handled by staff teammates. The Director is also expected to be primary in responsibility to the Assistant Dean for reporting and compliance auditing.

A bachelor's degree is required, with at least 2 years of experience in higher education administration or legal profession; however, a J.D with 1 year of experience in higher education administration or legal profession may also be considered. The successful applicant has a demonstrated knowledge of student records and mastery of a student information system, a pleasant manner and sound judgment, strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills. The ability to function effectively in a team environment, with minimal supervision, to achieve results and meet goal in a service-oriented environment is required. The successful applicant has a strong working knowledge of Excel.

The preferred applicant has a J.D. or Masters in Higher Education, as well as experience in a higher education registrar's office and in a law school or university registrar's office. Experience with a Student Information System, e.g., PeopleSoft, and a working knowledge of Access is preferred.
