Position Description: The University of Missouri wishes to expand its expertise in the research and development of food bioprocessing by hiring a talented faculty member. This unique interdisciplinary position resides in the Division of Food Systems & Bioengineering, which brings together multiple disciplines; including Food Science, Biological Engineering, and Chemical Engineering; from the College of Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources and College of Engineering (http://fsb.missouri.edu). The University of Missouri is an AAU Research One institution, and one of the most comprehensive universities in the nation. It is expected that this faculty member will develop a collaborative network among his or her new Mizzou colleagues. The position is offered as a nine-month, tenure-track at the assistant professor rank with a split appointment between teaching and research. Research Responsibilities: The focus of the research should be on food process and biological engineering. Processing via biological, chemical, and physical means, to increase the value of agricultural products is the research emphasis. The successful candidate will be expected to provide visionary leadership in food bioprocessing by incorporating novel and emerging technologies to develop a robust, collaborative, externally-funded research program.
Teaching Responsibilities: Teaching duties are in Food Science and Biological Engineering. The candidate will develop new courses covering emerging technologies, as well as teach existing courses for undergraduate and graduate students. He or she will implement an interdisciplinary curriculum crossing course and departmental boundaries while maintaining a focus on advising students in Food Science and Biological Engineering.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in food science, food engineering, bioprocess engineering, biosystems engineering, biological engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate research and teaching. Industrial work experience would be a plus
