Summary of Job Duties

The successful candidate will conduct field and greenhouse research evaluating the impact of integrated weed management practices on changes in the soil seedbank in cropping systems common to the Midsouth. Several long-term projects are underway and others will be initiated in the coming year. The field research will involve large-plot trials working with commercial field equipment, including implementation of harvest weed seed control strategies using the integrated Harrington Seed Destructor - the only one currently available for evaluation in the U.S. There will be occasions for the successful candidate to contribute to extension bulletins and conduct small-plot weed management research in cotton, corn, soybean, and rice. The successful candidate will be given an opportunity to be involved in grant submissions and will be expected to work as part of a team in helping to mentor graduate students, including statistical analyses and manuscript preparation. The individual is expected to present research finding at state, regional, and national meetings and publish research in refereed weed science journals.

Physical Conditions The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions.
