Summary of Job Duties

The successful candidate will contribute to a better understanding of herbicide resistance mechanism research for weeds found in major Arkansas crops. The research will require a thorough understanding of herbicide sites of action, plant physiology, and biochemistry along with appropriate physiological and molecular techniques. Use of radiolabeled herbicides and compound separation and identification using chromatography are preferred skills but are not required. The successful candidate will have access to a new state of the art laboratory and will work alongside other post-doctoral associates and Ph.D. students in this setting. The candidate is also expected to contribute in other areas of research that may include research on new herbicides and possibly laboratory and field trials involving research on volatilization of herbicides. It is expected that the candidate will help provide some oversight of M.S. student research, including help with statistical analyses and proofreading of papers. The individual will publish research findings in a timely manner and be given the opportunity to present annually at regional and national meetings.

PhD in weed science or closely related field and demonstrated publication record are required.
