Assistant or Associate Professor in Sustainable Manufacturing

Job description



The University of Kentucky's College of Engineering is seeking to further enhance its faculty expertise in the emerging field of sustainable manufacturing and invites qualified candidates to apply for a tenure-track faculty position in sustainable manufacturing engineering at the Assistant Professor level. Applications from candidates who qualify beyond the Assistant Professor level will be considered. The anticipated start date will be for the fall semester of 2019. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess a strong record of research accomplishments and the capability to develop an active and nationally recognized research program.

The successful candidate is expected to work with the current faculty and staff of the Institute of Sustainable Manufacturing (ISM). ISM is an internationally-recognized interdisciplinary research center with significant infrastructure and participating faculty from multiple engineering departments (http://www.engr.uky.edu/ism). Specifically, the ideal candidate will have research expertise in one or more of the following areas:
1. Smart Manufacturing including Intelligent Sensor Systems
2. Modeling and Optimization of Manufacturing Systems
3. Data Analytics/IOT and Digital Manufacturing
4. Cyber Physical Production Systems

The successful candidate must also demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and be qualified to teach a wide range of courses in electrical and computer engineering and mechanical engineering. This will include courses for the online master's program in Manufacturing Systems Engineering (https://www.engr.uky.edu/mfs).
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have a joint appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (http://www.engr.uky.edu/ece), and the Department of Mechanical Engineering (http://www.engr.uky.edu/me), with primary appointment determined on the basis of expertise.
