The Biology department of Manassas campus of Northern Virginia Community College is establishing a pool of candidates for General Biology, Anatomy and physiology, Microbiology, Botany and Zoology courses.

Duties and Responsibilities

Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 10 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs. Instruction may be during the day, evening, or weekend.

Minimum Qualifications

*Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the biological sciences. *Some independent laboratory experience at the graduate or professional level.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience at the college or high school level in Biology.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

*Knowledge of and ability to follow science laboratory safety policies.
*Adept knowledge of instructional technologies.
*Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
*Ability to work with a diverse student population.
*Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.

The adjunct faculty appointment contains no guarantee of continued employment. Salary is per credit hour and based on education and experience.
