Basic Function

Assist with EMS Skills Labs, at all levels, including Basic, Intermediate and Paramedic courses. Set up EMS lab equipment in preparation for skill lab sessions. Participate in MEC/EMS outreach efforts, including lab tours and demonstrations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Support instructor of record for hands on demonstration of skills in accordance with COAEMS-P accrediting standards to not exceed a ratio of 6 students per instructor for hands on demonstration of skills. (Example, class of 30 has 5 sections of 6 persons each. Instructor takes 1 section, the other 4 can be appropriately credentialed EMS professionals.)

Minimum Qualifications

Nationally Registered and/or Virginia EMT-Paramedic, BLS Healthcare Provider, ACLS Provider. Significant experience as an active EMS field provider. Hold Virginia EMT-Instructor certification or eligible to obtain.

Preferred Qualifications

Active EMS field provider for 2 years or more. BLS Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor, ITLS Instructor, NVEMS Council EMT-B Evaluator or eligible to obtain.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Nationally Registered and/or Virginia EMT-Paramedic, BLS Healthcare Provider, ACLS Provider. Hold Virginia EMT-Instructor certification or eligible to obtain.
