Basic Function

Support the conversion of courses from Blackboard to CANVAS as the college LMS, and provide for the ongoing support of CANVAS use through the development and presentation of in-person and virtual workshops at both the Basic and Advanced levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

Support the conversion of courses from Blackboard to CANVAS as the college LMS, and provide for the ongoing support of CANVAS use through the development and presentation of in-person and virtual workshops at both the Basic and Advanced levels. Deliver robust professional development to NOVA faculty and staff on a variety of instructional technology tools, including mobile apps. Promote instructional design principles as part of the workshops to help faculty effectively integrate technology into their pedagogy. Help troubleshoot instructional technology issues. Develop and curate a robust set of vibrant and user-friendly self-help online materials to support faculty, staff, and student use of technology.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Instructional Technology or related field. Significant experience delivering professional development related to instructional technology in an education environment.
Demonstrated expert knowledge of CANVAS. Significant experience supporting faculty implementation of a variety of instructional technologies into their pedagogy.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Instructional Technology or related field . Previous college teaching experience / Community college experience. Demonstrated significant experience delivering synchronous virtual training. Previous experience with Record of professional presentations and publications. Demonstrated knowledge and use of mobile apps suitable for classroom use. Knowledge of web accessibility standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated expert knowledge of CANVAS. Excellent training skills including excellent communication skills (oral and written). Expert-level ability to use web conferencing software. Excellent understanding of the faculty perspective and what faculty most value In quality training experiences. Ability to produce and deliver large volume of successful training in a rapidly changing, demanding environment.
