Job Details

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Purchasing Services for Temple University, the Senior Buyer procures goods and services following established Temple University Hospital System (TUHS) internal policies and adhering to City of Philadelphia, State and/or Federal procurement regulations as applicable. This is a part-time, 20 hours per week position. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related Business field, Three (3) years of directly related experience in procuring goods and services with regard to construction renovations, professional services, and commodities. Experience preparing, negotiating, and awarding agreements for various goods/services. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred: * Familiarity with e-procurement/e-coursing systems. * Purchasing knowledge of bidding construction, construction renovations, professional services, and the coordination of contract agreement documents. * Demonstrated knowledge of coordinating, finalizing and preparing detailed specifications for bid. * Demonstrated ability to interpret contracts. Required Skills & Abilities: * Ability to effectively participate in negotiations. * Strong analytical and planning skills.  Knowledge of procurement best practices and techniques. * Ability to manage multiple high level projects simultaneously. * Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills. * Ability to interact with others within and outside of the University and Health System for the exchange of information. * Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills. * Demonstrated experience in problem solving and using independent judgment. * Proficiency in the use of computers and spreadsheets skills, particularly Word and Excel. * Strong analytical, negotiating, and planning skills.
