Patient Relations Assistant/UKHC

Job description



The Patient Relations Assistant is responsible for the admitting and registration of patients in Therapeutic Services. They will identify opportunities to provide a positive customer experience by monitoring wait times, resolve patient complaints, promote collaboration to prevent and resolve service failure process issues; communicate with insurance providers to verify coverage and benefits; work closely with medical, ancillary, and clerical staff in a clinical setting; collect co-pays and payments from patients; and maintain HIPAA compliance regarding release of patient information. Physical Requirements

The physical requirements for this position include regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time with repetitive motion (such as typing); walking including pushing, pulling, and/or lifting up to 10lbs and occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 50lbs. The conditions of work may involve regular exposure to loud noises, intermittent exposure to blood borne/airborne pathogens and combative/violent people, and occasional exposure to cuts and punctures.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

The ideal candidate will have extensive customer service experience and the ability to communicate in a calm and helpful manner during stressful and/or crisis situations. Should also have the ability to demonstrate a high regard for attention to detail; a teamwork mindset; data entry skills and respect for confidentiality; ability to prioritize tasks efficiently; and the ability to work in multiple systems simultaneously.

High school diploma and at least 2 years of customer service experience preferred.
