Responsibilities

Provides intervention for students in crisis by offering services to students with various personal issues. Formulates intervention plans in order to minimize and/or resolve problems (evaluate needs of student and develop a plan of action).

Partners with other University department and community agencies to determine and/or recommend best resources available to students in crisis. Provides information and referrals to students in need of additional services. Collaborates with other University departments to resolve student problems/issues.

Assists with coordinating the daily operation of the Food Pantry.

Works closely with University Housing, University Counseling Center, and the Mary Coburn Health and Wellness Center to provide comprehensive services to students. Assists with providing workshops and training sessions to assist University staff and faculty in working with students of concern.

Serves on departmental and University-wide committees.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field and two years of appropriate experience; or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.

Experience dealing with crisis and managing sensitive information.

Experience identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Experience utilizing problem solving skills.

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.

Ability to listen and record accurate information.

Anticipated Salary Range

Hiring Salary: $37,500

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
