Position Summary: Mycobacterium tuberculosis is the bacterial pathogen that causes tuberculosis. The rise in drug resistant strains of M. tuberculosis poses a serious threat to future efforts to control this disease. This position is to assist in ongoing studies to test novel drug treatments for tuberculosis using and animal and tissue culture models of tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is now the leading cause of death of people living with HIV. This position will also support studies of HIV-tuberculosis co-infection in animal models. The individual hired will be responsible for organizing and conducting experiments in a Biosafety Level 3 facility. They will also be responsible for ordering and certain aspects of laboratory management.
