Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship is the largest and most successful social enterprise accelerator in the world. Its programs help social entrepreneurs from around the world apply business principles to end poverty and protect the planet. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Human Resources oversees all financial and human resources functions of Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship. Specific responsibilities include: financial management, reporting, analysis, and forecasting; all aspects of human resources, and facilities management. The Director of Finance and Human Resources will have unique opportunities to engage directly with social enterprises that participate in Miller Center's accelerator programs and with high-potential undergraduate students who conduct action research to support the social enterprises.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management (65%)
• Directs Miller Center’s financial planning, forecasting, and reporting; ensures timely delivery of accurate quarterly financial reports, including:
o A consolidated statement of activities (revenue and expense) relative to the approved fiscal year budget, with variances highlighted;
o A consolidated statement of financial position (balance sheet) including assets by designation, accrued expenses for future year program delivery, and unrestricted cash balance.
o A consolidated statement of cash flows;
o A forecast of expenses that highlights anticipates variances and key drivers;
o A forecast of revenues, including all sources
• Supervises all financial activities including preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements; leads budget planning and manages the Center’s budget in consultation with Executive Director and Center Leadership Team.
• Monitors fiscal activities to ensure program expenditures do not exceed program budgets; reports on use of endowed gift, external grant funds, designated gifts, and other sources of revenue.
• Consults with and advises individual program directors regarding revenues and expenses for their programs; develops program budgets for gift and grant proposals with forecasted contribution margin; provides analysis of actual program costs relative to budget and forecast and makes recommendations on how to fully cost key Miller Center programs.
• Ensures timely processing of all payments, invoices, and reimbursement requests for all staff, contractors, and other Miller Center constituents.
• Prepares and administers all contracts, Center-funded faculty research grants, and external grant budgets.
• Ensures compliance with the University’s financial policies and procedures; serves as the primary interface with the University Finance Office.
• Consults with University attorney and risk management director to ensure contract compliance with University guidelines and regulations. 2. Human Resources Management (30%)
• Manages all HR related activities for Miller Center
• Researches and prepares position descriptions; prepares and submits HR-related documents and forms for both staff and students.
• Manages the hiring process for new employees, including recruiting, hiring, and onboarding in partnership with the hiring manager.
• Represent Miller Center to the University’s HR department and ensure Miller Center is in compliance with HR policies and procedures.
• Consults with Provost’s office on employment and payment matters.
• Schedules and coordinates performance planning for all staff.
• Serves as the key human resources point of contact for all Miller Center staff and student employees. 3. Facilities Management (5%)
• Researches, prepares analyses, and makes recommendations to the Executive Director on space allocation needs within the Center, and oversees facility issues.
• Manages the Center’s facilities and infrastructure.
• Submits building maintenance and IT requests to appropriate university departments and ensures timely resolution of issues.
Provides Work Direction:
Supervises and hires student employees as necessary. Delegates expense processing, invoice generation, and other routine activities to student employees.

• Proficiency in budgeting, finance, IT, and HR systems. Experience with Peoplesoft financials a plus.
• Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Google tools a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced, dynamic team environment.
• Ability to organize projects from inception to completion and manage staff and workflow within and across multiple tasks and projects
• Ability to work collaboratively in a non-hierarchical environment.
• Ability to exercise judgment and maintain confidentiality on a wide spectrum of topics.
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Business Management, Finance, or Accounting preferred. Years of Experience:
• Minimum of five years experience required in financial planning and analysis or related field. Preferred:
• Relevant HR experience
• An interest in and experience with social entrepreneurship.
• Box and Salesforce experience.
• Ability to work flexible hours when needed, including occasional evenings and weekends.
HR experience preferred.
Salary Information: $2,668.83 - $3,137.66 semi-monthly; commensurate with experience
