The University of Massachusetts Amherst Dance Program seeks a highly motivated, creative, dynamic dance educator and creative artist to join a faculty that values collaboration, innovation, and inclusion in its mission of preparing dance artists, researchers and teachers.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach and team-teach undergraduate dance courses in dance technique (contemporary dance forms, jazz, or hip hop) and one or more courses aimed at both dance students and general education students, such as dance history, advanced dance composition, dance science, or dance research and writing.
  • The candidate will be expected to collaborate in the expansion and promotion of the undergraduate BFA and BA programs, including curriculum review and development, student mentoring and advising, direction of student concerts, and participation in the Five College Dance Consortium as needed.
  • Assignments will depend on candidate's areas of expertise and the needs of the Department/program.

Qualifications:

  • MA/MFA in dance.
  • College-level teaching experience preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of current practices in dance.
  • Interest and/or experience in traditional and non-traditional dance practices, as well as an interest in developing new course offerings and community engagement opportunities.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

Salary:

Commensurate with lecturer rank.

This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track position to begin on September 1, 2019. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal.
