Job Summary:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of routine accounting clerical duties in the preparation, checking and maintenance of assigned financial records, documents and functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Gather, assemble, sort, tabulate, check and file a variety of financial and statistical data.

Balance cash counts to register tapes, reviewing tapes as necessary to reconcile discrepancies; prepare bank deposits.

Perform routine accounting clerical duties.

Perform complex accounting clerical duties with responsibility for maintenance of assigned accounts and financial records.

Prepare cash banks for registers; maintain proper cash levels, change, and supplies at registers; operate cash register as needed; take register readings as required.

Maintain a variety of financial and statistical records, logs and files; maintain and distribute petty cash as required.

Compile financial and statistical information and data and assist in the preparation of reports related to assigned accounting functions.

Perform clerical duties such as filing, duplicating, keyboarding and maintaining simple records.

Ensure the security of all assets at all times.

Operate a variety of equipment and machines including computer, calculator, and cash register.

Prepare bank deposits and deliver to the bank on a daily basis.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

Train and provide work direction to cashiers as assigned.

Maintain departmental area(s) in a safe, clean and orderly condition; assure compliance with established safety procedures and regulations.

Maintain currency of qualifications for area of assignment.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE OF:

Basic accounting practices and procedures.

Modern office practices, procedures and equipment, including
telephone techniques and etiquette.

Recordkeeping techniques.

ABILITY TO:

Add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately.

Maintain accurate financial and statistical records.

Review and verify data quickly and accurately.

Operate a personal computer including various software packages to enter and retrieve data using keyboarding skills in an efficient and effective manner consistent with requirements of the position.

Meet schedules and time lines.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; understand and follow oral and written directions.

Train and provide work direction to others.

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

EDUCATION:

Graduation from high school or equivalent.


EXPERIENCE:

Responsible clerical experience involving financial recordkeeping.
