Assistant Director, Web Services and Digital Strategy - 1849
Responsible for the management of EMU's recruitment-focused website and for setting project strategy, prioritizing web features, managing the production schedule, and supervising the work of the web services staff.
Principal Duties and Responsiblities:
Coordinates, develops and implements project plans to deliver web services to the university community. This includes creating and maintaining the framework and production process for web page development on the university's CMS.
Proactively manages the CMS system, ensuring that the system is used to its fullest capabilities. Constantly looks for ways to leverage CMS tools in order to make website production as efficient as possible.
Supervises and directs the work of web services staff (the web developer, the web content specialist, and student developers).
Creates and leads a robust CMS training strategy so that our more than 400 content contributors know how to manage their websites.
Leads the creation of the university's SEO marketing strategy. Will analyze performance data, communicate insights, and create and implement action plans based on results.
Will prioritize tasks based on content areas of the website which have the greatest potential for market growth and student recruitment.
Uses Google Analytics to optimize web content for usability and performance. Analyzes traffic patterns and user behavior and develops reports and recommendations based on the data.
Provides leadership on the university's Web Accessibility Working Group. Collaborates with the Web Accessibility Coordinator to ensure that WCAG 2.0 AA standards are met across all university websites.
Works with IT to identify/resolve server performance issues. Works as a liaison between IT and Integrated Content. Also serves as liaison between Integrated Content and CMS vendor.Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must have a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
Must be a strong collaborator and communicator who is able to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively. Must demonstrate the ability to bring out the best in the people and projects they oversee. Must be able to thrive in a challenge, fast-paced environment.
A minimum of five years working as part of an integrated web development team is required, with a minimum of three years supervising other team members and a minimum of three years working with a content management systems.
Demonstrated experience with SEO and Google Analytics required.
