EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, WEINGARTEN LRC

Job description

Duties: The Executive Director of the Weingarten Learning Resources Center is responsible for the leadership, vision, and administration of a wide range of services and programs which provide academic support and enhance student learning at the University of Pennsylvania. The Executive Director provides creative, innovative, and responsible direction for the two branches of the Weingarten Learning Resources Center: the Office of Learning Resources, and the Office of Student Disabilities Services (SDS). In this capacity, the Executive Director provides leadership in decision-making concerning departmental policies and procedures, staff recruitment and development, budget formulations and expenditures, and program development/evaluation. They are responsible for ensuring the delivery of services and programs designed to meet the needs of students, faculty, and professional advisory staff within the College of Arts and Science's academic support of its undergraduate students, and innovating supportive programs and services that are congruent with curricular changes and challenges, as well as with advancements in educational technologies.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Education or related field, with an emphasis on Reading/Writing/Literacy required; extensive knowledge in the areas of post-secondary learning and teaching; minimum of five years experience teaching academic reading, writing, and study strategies to post-secondary students. College classroom teaching is a plus. Strong leadership skills, demonstrating vision, collaboration, and innovation. Proven managerial skills with both fiscal and human resources, including supervisory experience. Knowledge of the learning context of highly selective postsecondary institutions. Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills. Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of people from diverse backgrounds and to issues of diversity and inclusion as a whole.
