Student Financial Services seeks an Assistant Director for Athletic Financial Aid as a member of the Financial Aid Administrative staff, reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid. This position is specifically responsible for the administration of activities that provide comprehensive and quality financial aid and student account counseling services to undergraduate and graduate student athletes, their parents and outside organizations, and is responsible for ensuring compliance with NCAA, ACC and Department of Education financial aid regulations. The position also evaluates, interprets and/or implements financial aid policies, procedures and regulations. The position provides primary, in-person customer service to student athletes and coaches.
The position also assists in coordinating and administering student financial aid programs not necessarily related to student athletes, which can include reading/reviewing student financial aid applications to determine aid eligibility.
A Bachelor's degree and at least four years of progressively responsible experience in higher education financial aid are required. Knowledge of federal financial aid processes and regulations, and the ability to independently handle multiple projects simultaneously, while providing excellent customer service, are required. Experience in dealing with outside organizations similar in scope to the Department of Education and the NCAA, and interpreting complex regulations to ensure compliance are essential. The successful applicant has the ability to analyze detailed financial information, communicate clearly under stress and short deadlines and provide excellent customer service under difficult situations. Proficiency in Excel, Word, Microsoft Exchange are required.
Preference will be given to candidates that possess a Masters degree and more than four years experience in athletic compliance and/or financial aid, and awarding of athletic grant-in-aid. Proficiency in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions software, ImageNow software, Perceptis call tracking software, Access data base, NCAA'S Compliance Assistant Internet (CAI) is preferred.
