Director of Orchestral Activities

Effective August 2019

Music Director and Conductor of the Frost Symphony Orchestra (FSO); open rank tenure-track. Maintain a highly select studio of graduate students in orchestral conducting. Build upon the international reputation of the Frost Orchestral Program through local, regional, national and international performances; the commissioning and premieres of new works; collaborations with faculty colleagues-artists, renown guest artists and interaction with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra housed within FSOM.  Other duties assigned dependent upon the strengths of the successful candidate and needs of the institution.

The ideal candidate will have national and/or international prominence as a conductor-teacher; provide strong leadership and vision of excellence for FSO; work in concert with FSOM colleagues to develop a comprehensive program of study that respects and emphasizes the importance of large and small ensemble experiences as well as individual performance; build relationships with high profile guest artists; promote and foster strong collegial relationships within and outside FSOM; act as a visible advocate who brings valuable and professional connections that enhance the entire Frost School of Music and University. Education qualifications: DMA or equivalent experience.
