Clinical Assistant Professor Position

Department of Teaching and Learning

The Department of Teaching and Learning in the School of Education and Human Development seeks applications from qualified persons for the position of full-time Clinical Assistant Professor. This will be a 9-month position, renewable every year contingent on performance and other reappointment policies as found in the Faculty Manual and with responsibility in the Department’s undergraduate and graduate programs.

Minimum Requirements: Ph.D or Ed.D. degree in Teaching and Learning, or related field, valid or expired teacher certification, one year of teaching K-12, and one year teaching at the college level.

Essential skills include excellent pedagogy, expertise in instruction for diverse learning populations, experience in the preparation of teachers for those populations, and outstanding interpersonal skills. We are particularly interested in faculty who have expertise in K-12 literacy, mathematics and/or science methods, classroom and behavior management, and inclusive educational models.

Duties:

  • Teach a 4-4 load per year as assigned in the Department of Teaching and Learning;
  • Oversee undergraduate school-based field experience for course assignments, with a focus on liaison work to further relationships with public and private schools;
  • Participate in recruitment activities;
  • Engage in service to the university and community; and
  • Participate in department, college, and university committee work.
     

Salary will be commensurate with professional experience. Continuation beyond the first year is subject to an annual performance review and availability of funding.

  • a statement of teaching philosophy
  • unofficial transcripts
  • an annotated syllabus from a college-level course designed or re-designed by the applicant
  • three letters of reference
