The university of Miami is seeking candidates for a faculty position at level of Assistant Professor in the department of surgery to serve as a Clinician / Educator with a special emphasis on hepatopancreatic and upper gastrointestinal malignancies. Job responsibilities will include participation in clinical, research and educational activities as it relates to Surgical Oncology with a special emphasis on hepatopancreaticobiliary and upper gastrointestinal malignancies. He or She will help develop and implement the Division's strategic plan, in collaboration with the Chief of the Division, which sets forth clinical, financial, educational and research divisional objectives to support and complement the mission statement of the Department, the UMSM, UMMG and the affiliated Hospitals. The candidate will be expected to conduct reliable and independent laboratory research with special focus on hepatopancreaticobiliary and upper gastrointestinal malignancies, participate in all divisional activities, perform patient care activities for surgical oncology patients, develop an independent practice and become involved in teaching medical students and residents. Approx 40 hr/wk, 8:00 am to 5:00pm, M-F The applicant must have an MD or MD/PhD degree, have participated in a SSO certified fellowship, must be board certified in Surgery and maintain a valid Florida Medical License. In addition, the candidate must show evidence of high-impact publications, demonstrate the ability to lead innovative research projects to successful conclusions and secure and sustain extramural funding for a program of research including NIH RO 1 s, Program Projects, Center Grants, Cooperative Agreements and/or training grants. 

The position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery requires an M.D. Degree and must be Board Certified or Board Eligible. He/She must possess a Florida Physician Medical License and a DEA certification. This individual will be directly responsible to the Chief of Surgical Oncology, DeWitt Daughtry Family Department of Surgery.
