The School of Nursing is seeking applications for faculty (rank to be determined) with a focused program of nursing research The School of Nursing is committed to expanding its research in the following three areas:
• Management of symptoms in chronic illnesses and lifestyle conditions
• Exploration of internal and external factors that contribute to illness and lessen well-being of individuals and populations
• Using informatics and big data to inform clinical outcomes

The preferred candidate for the position would have a strong extramural funded research background or with pending research funding. The research facilities at the Institute includes lab space for a wide range of projects, statistical and methodological consultation and project start-up funding including possible funding for post-doctoral fellows.

The faculty will also be able to access to clients in the newly developed Nursing Center for Clinical Education and Wellness. The Nursing Center is one of four clinical units in the Dr. Charles and Anne IMPACT Practice Center, an interprofessional student education center.

The Boston area provides extensive opportunities for research collaboration. Over 100 doctorally prepared nurses are employed across our health system, particularly in Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women's Hospitals. Additionally, a rich network of community sites and research centers offer potential partnerships on nearly every aspect of health care.

School of Nursing

Serving over 500 students with 55 full-time faculty, School of Nursing offers the Doctor of Nursing Practice, one of the first DNP programs in the country and within the last two years, the first with an integrated cohort driven curriculum, an accelerated BSN program, an entry-level and post-professional Master of Science in Nursing with seven nurse practitioner tracks, a Certificate of Advanced Study, and Certificates of Completion. The faculty includes outstanding educators and scholars in research, teaching and learning and application. Many are also recognized nationally and globally for their clinical and scholarly excellence and leadership in professional organizations. Qualifications


Applicants should have a sustained record of extramural research funding, preferably federal, experience teaching graduate students, as well as mentoring students and faculty. Successful candidates will teach selected courses in his or her area of expertise and supervise student research and scholarly projects. Adequate time for on-boarding newly funded or transferred research projects is provided.

A doctoral degree in nursing is preferred, although those with doctoral degrees in a related field may apply. Applicants must have a graduate degree in nursing, and be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The applicant must meet the requirements for appointment at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor in School of Nursing.

The MGH Institute of Health Professions is located at the Catherine Filene Shouse Building in Boston's historic Charlestown Navy Yard. Originally built in 1866, a complete interior renovation of the Shouse Building was completed in 2001, providing a state-of-the-art working and learning environment. The building also houses The Children's Quarters, which offers kindergarten and preschool daycare to both staff and students of the Institute and the Charlestown community.
