Job Description Summary
Working under indirect supervision, assist with general and preventative maintenance service as directed.

Job Description

Essential Functions:
  • Electrical: assist with repairs to electrical systems, outlets and cords; assist with installations of motors and belts as needed; assist with responses to all electrical requests as needed; assist with preventative maintenance on electrical equipment as scheduled.
  • Plumbing: stops overflowing and clogged toilets; unstops showers and sinks; assists with repairs to valves, gaskets and lines (this includes but is not limited to water, sewer, steam and condensate lines); assists with responses to all requests for plumbing service as directed; assists with performing preventative maintenance on pluming equipment as scheduled.
  • HVAC: assist with restarts of all types of industrial HVAC units; assist with repairs on window units; assist with monitoring HVAC chemical equipment; under supervision, changes filters and fan belts; opens HVAC drains; assist with response to all requests for HVAC; assist with the performance of preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment as scheduled.
  • Carpentry: assist with carpentry repairs on doors, door hardware, windows, storm windows fabrication, walls, shelving, and other carpentry repairs as needed.
  • Painting: assist with patching, caulking, priming, staining and painting ceilings, walls, doors, windows and other items as needed.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of planned preventive maintenance schedules and activities to insure prolonged life and usefulness of operating equipment and facilities and to minimize breakdowns or failures of such equipment and facilities.
  • Assists in maintaining athletic maintenance equipment and workshop areas, as requested.
  • Assist with any necessary preparations of athletic facilities for practices and sports events.
  • Assists at athletic events, as assigned.
  • Assists with Fire Panels and Fire Systems
  • May be required to work beyond a 40-hour week for different sporting events.
  • Travels to training seminars for essential equipment, scoreboards, HVAC.
  • Assists with coordination of athletic facility needs related to severe weather.
  • Is subject to recall after hours in the event of athletic facility emergencies, disasters or other special needs as directed by management.
  • Reports all matters of safety to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Participates in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses and trade shows.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma. Certified HVAC technician with 2 years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting repairs and installation as needed.
  • Proficiency in computer use and related software and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task; excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work positively with University employees, fellow staff members, and coaches
  • Ability to troubleshoot of Simplex Safety System
  • Ability to troubleshoot of Notifier Fire Alarm System
  • Ability in troubleshooting HVAC system in all Athletic Facilities
  • Ability to learn and perform maintenance on scoreboards for various sports facilities.
  • Ability to read, understand and abide by all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule which will include nights and weekends.
  • Ability to meet requirements of the University's automobile insurance.
