Job Description

The College of Arts & Sciences is seeking applications from qualified candidates for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry for the Department of Sciences & Mathematics beginning in fall 2019. The College seeks excellence in instruction, research, and service. Specialty in Analytical Chemistry.Teaching assignments may include day or evening classes. Flexible to suit course schedule.

Job Responsibilities

  • Teach three 3 hour courses per semester
  • Conduct scientific research.
  • Help build and manage a new laboratory.
  • Data collection, analysis, and manuscript writing.
  • Grant proposal writing.
  • Service and committee work at the program, department, college, university, community, and profession levels.


Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in chemistry, or a closely related field of study (ABD candidates will be considered if all requirements for the Ph.D. degree are completed by August 10, 2019).
  • Must be an analytical chemist with the ability to teach general chemistry to both science majors and non-majors, and analytical chemistry for the program in water resources science and technology.
  • Prior experience in publishing peer reviewed scholarly work in analytical chemistry and a promise of growth as a scientist are required.


Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • A Driver's License is required, as frequent site investigation and stakeholder engagement activities are expected for the position.

This is a tenure-track position requiring both teaching and research.
