Job Description

The Department of Theatre and Dance of Montclair State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in support of its professional BFA Musical Theatre training program, beginning September 1, 2019. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will direct and/or choreograph one or two productions per year, recruit and mentor students, provide support towards curricular development, contribute towards the operation and development of an active production season, advance the reputation and visibility of the University nationally and internationally, and promote the BFA Musical Theatre degree as a vital part of the arts and entertainment environment in New York City and the surrounding tri-state area.

Qualifications & Requirements

Strongly preferred substantial professional credentials in musical theatre performance, choreography and/or direction, terminal degree (MFA or PHD) or Professional Equivalency, three to five years college teaching experience and a commitment to excellence in all areas of musical theatre training on the undergraduate level. We are interested in candidates who are able to teach within the musical theatre disciplines but with a strong focus in Musical Theatre Dance, Direction and/or Choreography, who are committed to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment, are attuned to interdisciplinary collaboration with the various areas of the Department of Theatre and Dance and the John J. Cali School of Music and who will maintain an active scholarly and/or professional practice outside of Montclair State University.

Salary Range
Commensurate with experience.
