Posting Summary:
The Department of Surgery is seeking a Director of Finance. This key administrative position is responsible for providing overall financial management for the department, its clinical divisions and academic programs of education and research. This individual works with the COO and Chair to implement goals, policies and procedures across the department as they pertain to financial administration. The major focus of this position is to develop and implement sound financial management that ensures continued growth and financial stability within the department and institution.

A Master's Degree in Business Administration, Financial Management, MHA or equivalent advanced degree is required. Significant relevant experience may substitute for a master's degree. At least four-to-five years of financial management and supervisory experience required. This position requires a results-oriented and detail-oriented individual with a track record of doing what it takes to get the job done, while ensuring strong interpersonal relationships. Strong financial management skills that include the ability to identify opportunities to improve operating efficiency, increase revenues, and effectively control expenses, are expected. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization in research, education and clinical enterprises is a must, as is the ability to teach proper financial practices to colleagues and others across the department.

Six to seven years of financial management and supervisory experience in an academic medical setting is preferred.

This is a restricted position contingent upon the continuation of funding.
