Posting Summary:
The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning at the University of Virginia seek a Research Specialist - STREAMin3. The incumbent will assist with project management and participant support as well as research coordination. Incumbent will be responsible for learning about the STREAMin3 childcare curriculum and Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Project (VKRP) assessments and online system. He or she will assist with preparing curriculum materials and providing logistical support to coaches and teachers working directly with the curriculum. The incumbent will also assist in developing systems for data collection (e.g., creating surveys and other data capture tools in Qualtrics or Google Drive), entering data, and basic data management (compiling data, assisting with data scanning/entry, cleaning, management, and report creation). Duties also include maintaining project timelines and deliverables, assisting with project publications (including online), and implementing project changes designed by senior researchers as needed.

A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is required. Experience working in education or educational research is required. Time working as a student may be considered. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to interact effectively with a diverse team of internal and external constituencies. The ability to create data sets from survey and focus group data and create data reports is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word), and use of content management systems is essential. Preference will be given to applicants with experience following data collection protocols, such as observations, interviews, focus groups, and surveys and experience working in educational settings (preschool, elementary).
