Posting Summary:
The Division of Nephrology is recruiting for the position of Grants and Contracts Administrator to perform pre-award, post-award or a combination of grants and contracts job duties in response to specific proposal guidelines or terms and conditions. This position provides Research Administration leadership by performing pre-award and post-award administration for the Divisions of Allergy and Nephrology, to include submissions to the National Institutes of Health, foundations, and industry sponsors. The incumbent serves as liaison to sponsoring agencies and University personnel on all questions regarding the administrative and accounting aspects of proposals and awards. The incumbent negotiates aspects of clinical trials budgets and contracts in collaboration with Principal Investigators.

The incumbent will facilitate the proposal submission and award administration process and must understand sponsor requirements and interpret guidelines for the Principal Investigator. This position will responsible for the processing of proposal or award amendments, communicating with sponsor as needed, and serve as the primary contact for internal and external subcontracts and sponsors.

A bachelors degree and at least 2 years of experience in grant administration or sponsored programs and/or contracts administration is required. 5 years of experience and prior experience in education or public administration is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, federal and university regulations.
2. Ability to provide technical advice and information to faculty and staff in area of expertise.
3. Aptitude to oversee grant proposals and financial transactions.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
5. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
6. Aptitude to analyze budgetary line items for compliance with budget guidelines.
7. Human relations and leadership skills and the ability to function in a team environment required.
8. Capacity to multi-task and work towards several objectives simultaneously on tight deadlines.
9. Ability to solve moderately complex accounting and reconciliation issues.
