Position Summary: This position is part of the Chemistry research administration team and has responsibility for pre-award and post-award management for an assigned group of Chemistry faculty. As an interdisciplinary research & basic science teaching department, external financial support is essential to carry out the department's mission and this role is critical for its success. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Pre-award planning including proposal development, budget development, preparation of agency forms and documents and proposal submission. * Advising faculty on status of projects, i.e. balances, budget allocations by amount, upcoming end-dates, sub awards, summer salary, salary release, re-budgets, no-cost extensions, equipment acquisition and budget justifications. * Understanding and accurately interpreting federal, state and university policies and procedures including, but not limited to accounts receivables, accounts payables (including travel and personal reimbursements) purchasing and payroll. * Independently managing and providing direction, guidance, and leadership for the day-to-day fiscal management of research administration projects * Timely and accurate reconciliations, closeouts and adherence to budget and accounting standards. The position is solely responsible for monitoring the award. In case of an audit, documentation and justification of expenditures is maintained by the contracts and grants manager. Must be proficient in accounting standards, and be cognizant of allowable costs. This position reports to the Department's Research Administration/Accounting Manager.

Education Requirements:

Qualification and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
