Assistant Extension Professor in Entomology

Job description

The Department of Entomology at the University of Kentucky is seeking a broadly trained entomologist who will address the impact of a wide range of insect pests that affect humans in homes, schools, businesses, and/or institutions. This position is located in the Entomology Department on the University of Kentucky Campus, Lexington, KY. Areas of extension and research emphasis could include any topic with obvious connection to a goal of mitigating the impacts of structure-infesting pests (e.g., cockroaches, ants, termites, bed bugs, etc.) on humans.

The individual is expected to work closely with the Kentucky Pest Management Association and state regulatory officials to ensure that information on safe and efficacious methods of pest management are available. Further, the individual is expected to mentor graduate students, publish in peer-reviewed and industry trade journals, actively pursue external funding opportunities, and disseminate information to clientele via state-of-the-art communication methods.

Applicants should submit a CV, statement of extension and research interests (upload under Specific Request 1), up to five selected reprints (upload under Specific Request 2), and an application letter describing background and expertise specifically related to this extension/research position at the University of Kentucky. Please also include the names and addresses of four individuals who may be contacted for letters of reference when prompted in the application process.
